Guinea-Bissau is one of the poorest countries in the world. It has a population of about 1.6 million, with an economy based primarily on farming and fishing activities, which represent about 46 percent of GDP. The World Bank’s portfolio consists of projects in rural community driven development, coastal and biodiversity management, multi-sector infrastructure rehabilitation and emergency electricity and water rehabilitation.
