The Republic of Seychelles is a remote, small island-state with middle income country characteristics. The size of the economy is small and predominantly service-based. Seychelles faces constraints typical of a small island state, including lack of economic diversification, vulnerability to external shocks, distance from markets, and risks of environmental degradation and weather-related disasters. The Bank is currently preparing a four-year Country Partnership Strategy, which will focus on key analytic work relevant for macroeconomic stabilization, improving competitiveness, diversification of the economy and modernizing the social protection framework.
