Until mid-2008, Ukraine recorded strong economic growth. Growth over 2001-2008 averaged 7.5 percent, among the highest in Europe. The global economic and financial crisis hit Ukraine particularly hard. Ukraine’s economy resumed growth in 2010. The World Bank's Country Partnership Strategy (CPS) for Ukraine for 2008-2011 focuses on the strategic priorities of the country development, including sustained economic growth, improved Ukraine’s competitiveness, reform of public finance and administration, and the improvement of public services.
