The Mapping for Results initiative is a partnership between the World Bank and AidData. AidData is an initiative of the Development Gateway, the College of William and Mary, and Brigham Young University. AidData brings expertise in standardizing and enhancing project-level information on development activities to the partnership. AidData provides technical oversight and quality control for the geocoding process, which follows the UCDP/AidData flexible methodology developed jointly with Uppsala University in Sweden. As part of the UCDP/AidData methodology, each project is coded twice, with the results of both coders compared and combined into one final data set. This double-coding process ensures that the geocoding process produces the most thorough and accurate location data possible. In addition to geocoding World Bank projects, the flexible methodology developed by UCDP/AidData has allowed it to geocode projects from other donors.
Since 1984, the MEASURE DHS (Demographic and Health Surveys) project has provided technical assistance to more than 240 surveys in over 85 countries, advancing global understanding of health and population trends in developing countries. DHS has earned a worldwide reputation for collecting and disseminating accurate, nationally representative data on fertility, family planning, maternal and child health, gender, HIV/AIDS, malaria, and nutrition. Measure DHS provided regional data for Infant Mortality, Maternal Health, and Malnutrition which are being visualized on the Mapping for Results platform.
The MEASURE DHS project is funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Contributions from other donors, as well as funds from participating countries, also support surveys. The project is implemented by ICF International
.GeoIQ
GeoIQ develops the underlying mapping visualization and analysis platform that powers the Mapping for Results Initiative. GeoIQ, which is also available for public use through GeoCommons, enables easy collaborative sharing of data, visualizations, and analysis. GeoIQ supports the platform in use by Federal Government Agencies, NGO's such as United Nations GRID-Arendal, and numerous global citizens in engaging in conversations and open data through mapping.
Blue Raster
Blue Raster delivers interactive web mapping applications for clients globally. Blue Raster collaborates with many international organizations including World Bank and USAID to provide the tools to visualize and better understand data in a geographic context.
